What is pulmonary interstitial fibrosis?

Pulmonary interstitial fibrosis is chronic fibrosis of the connective tissue supporting the lung structure except alveoli and blood vessels. High resolution CT can show fibrous grid spots, mainly in the lower lungs. Pulmonary interstitial fibrosis has many causes, and its clinical manifestations and prognosis are quite different. Pulmonary interstitial fibrosis can be divided into two categories: primary and secondary. Primary pulmonary interstitial fibrosis can not find the exact cause. Secondary pulmonary interstitial fibrosis is more common in rheumatic immune disease-related pulmonary interstitial fibrosis, which is a complication of primary disease, mainly treated by primary disease, with good prognosis.
