Causes of pulmonary artery thrombosis

Your health, my dedication.
Pulmonary artery thrombosis refers to the presence of thrombus in the pulmonary artery, mostly from the deep veins of the lower limbs, pulmonary artery can also show in situ thrombosis, such as chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension, but the former is most common. There are many causes of pulmonary thrombosis, including old age, prolonged bed rest, long road trips, obesity, tumors, prolonged use of contraceptives, surgery and trauma, congestive heart failure due to various causes, and pre-existing thromboembolic diseases. These factors or diseases often cause venous blood stasis, increased blood viscosity, and vascular endothelial damage, which are prone to thrombosis. Some rare diseases, such as Behcet syndrome, polycythemia vera, systemic lupus erythematosus, etc., can also induce thrombosis. After the lower limb vein thrombosis falls off, it can reach the pulmonary artery with the blood circulation, thus forming pulmonary artery thrombosis. When the thrombus obstructs the pulmonary artery or its branches, it can also cause pulmonary embolism and cause symptoms. Pulmonary embolism caused by thrombosis is called pulmonary thromboembolism in medicine.
