Does tooth extraction hurt dental nerves?

Empowering lives through health.
There are two main reasons for nerve damage. One is when anesthesia is given, especially when the alveolar nerve is blocked, the needle tip of the anesthesia needle just punctures the dental nerve, causing nerve damage. The second is during the extraction process, especially when the wisdom tooth is pulled out. The wisdom tooth is very close to the dental nerve canal, and during the operation, some damage is caused to the lower alveolar nerve. Both types of injuries may cause numbness and pain in the lower alveolar nerve, which can be recovered. The nerve itself can be repaired. However, sometimes the nerve is slowly repaired after injury. For example, if a needle is stabbed in the dental nerve, it may cause numbness or pain for a month or even months.
