What does vertebral compression fracture mean?

Vertebral compression fractures are compression of the lumbar spine due to trauma or osteoporosis, and nerves or blood vessels may be compressed. It is recommended that patients go to the hospital for X-rays to check the severity of compression. Conservative treatment is possible for patients who do not compress more than one-third. If the fracture compresses more than one-third, surgery is required to treat it.
