Overview of kidney transplantation

The kidney has three main functions: excretion of metabolites and toxins, regulation of water and electrolyte balance, and secretion of kidney. When kidney function shows failure, renal replacement can be adopted, such as peritoneal dialysis, hemodialysis, and kidney transplantation. Kidney transplantation is an effective treatment for renal failure by transplanting a healthy kidney to a patient with severe kidney disease or even loss of kidney function. Kidney transplantation can be divided into autologous kidney transplantation and allogeneic kidney transplantation according to individual components. At present, the technology of kidney transplantation in China is at the leading level in the world.
