Is renal space-occupying lesion necessarily cancer?

Committed to your health journey.
A mass of the kidney, which is actually a description on the top of the imaging, indicates that there is something in the kidney that should not be present in its original position. Of course, we still call it a mass of the kidney, including benign and malignant lesions. Malignant is more common in kidney cancer, renal sarcoma and other types of malignant tumors. Of course, there are also some benign kidney lesions, such as renal angiomyolipoma, metanephric adenoma, and even renal abscess. Overall, when space-occupying lesions are present in the kidney, the probability of malignancy is slightly higher, but it also needs to be comprehensively evaluated in conjunction with the patient's medical history, specific imaging findings, and biopsy pathological results if necessary.
