A patent foramen ovale can cause heart murmur, dyspnea, arrhythmia, etc.
1. Heart murmur is
caused by abnormal blood flow from the left atrium to the right atrium through the foramen ovale, but heart murmur is usually mild and does not cause any discomfort.
2. Dyspnea
If the patent foramen ovale is large, it is blood flowing through the hole to the right atrium, causing oxygenated blood and non-oxygenated blood to mix to a certain extent, causing insufficient oxygenated blood supply and difficulty breathing.
3. Arrhythmia A patent foramen ovale
may increase pressure and blood flow inside the heart, resulting in arrhythmia, such as atrial fibrillation or atrial flutter.
