How often does the heart stent change?

stent is a metal implant used to support the blood vessels of the heart and prevent stenosis or blockage. If the patient actively controls cardiovascular risk factors such as hypertension, hyperlipidemia, diabetes, etc. after implantation of a stent, he/she may not need to replace the stent for life if he/she regularly takes medications prescribed by his/her doctor and maintains a healthy lifestyle, including healthy diet, moderate exercise, smoking and alcohol restriction. If patients do not actively control cardiovascular risk factors and maintain a healthy lifestyle after cardiac stent implantation, they may need to be replaced once every 5-10 years.
