Adrenal adenomas can be classified into functional and nonfunctional tumors. Functional tumors include primary hyperaldosteronism, hypercortisolism, and pheochromocytoma. Primary hyperaldosteronism may manifest as hypertension with associated symptoms of hypokalemia, such as myasthenia or paralysis, polyuria, and arrhythmia; hypercortisolism may manifest as concentric obesity, full moon face, etc.; pheochromocytoma patients may manifest as paroxysmal hypertension, orthostatic hypotension, and metabolic abnormalities. Nonfunctional adrenal adenoma generally has no typical symptoms, and can show atypical symptoms such as waist pain when the tumor is large.
