Is hypercalcemia the same as hypertension?

Restoring balance, one patient at a time.
Hypercalcemia is not the same as hypertension. Hypercalcemia
and hypertension are two different diseases. Hypercalcemia refers to an elevated concentration of calcium ions in the blood, generally defined as serum total calcium greater than 2.60 mmol/L. Symptoms of hypercalcemia include fatigue, muscle weakness, dehydration, nausea, vomiting, constipation, decreased urine output, etc. Hypercalcemia can be caused by many causes, including hyperparathyroidism, myeloma, vitamin D poisoning, etc. Hypertension refers to a sustained increase in arterial blood pressure above normal limits. The main symptoms of hypertension are dizziness, headache, blurred vision, etc., but there are many patients with hypertension without any symptoms. Causes of hypertension include genetics, obesity, lack of physical activity, smoking, diet factors, etc.
Patients need timely intervention after diagnosis of the disease to adjust blood calcium and blood pressure levels, to prevent organ function damage.
