How does osteonecrosis form?

Most cases of talar necrosis are caused by fractures or dislocations of the talus. After fractures or dislocations, the blood vessels supplying the talus are damaged or even broken, resulting in blocked blood supply to the talus and thus ischemic talar necrosis. In addition, autoimmune diseases or prolonged alcohol abuse can also affect the blood supply to the talus and cause talar necrosis. If the osteonecrosis of the talus is not treated in time, it may cause complications such as ankle deformity, shortening of the lower limbs, and abnormal walking posture of the patient. Most osteonecrosis of the talus is mainly treated by surgery. After surgery, reasonable diet and more attention should be paid to rest.
