What is Kashin-Beck Disease?

Building bridges to better health.
Kashin Beck disease is a disease with cartilage necrosis as the main change and obvious endemic distribution. At present, the etiology is not completely clear. Some people think that it is a chronic food poisoning caused by oral administration of wheat parasitized by mildew. The changes of bone cartilage in Kashin Beck disease are systemic, with obvious weight bearing and more active parts. The main changes are developmental deformity and deformation, mainly involving articular cartilage. Adolescents are more common, male than female. The main manifestations are no conscious symptoms, no specificity, muscle soreness and pain, muscle atrophy and spasm, morning stiffness, joint movement limitation, severe deformity in late stage, dwarfism, knee inversion or knee valgus deformity, acromegaly, joint deformation and thickening, often symmetrical.
