Homocysteine 28.71. What does that mean?

Guiding you with care, every step of the way.
The normal value of homocysteine test is 5-15μmol/L. Homocysteine 28.71μmol/L indicates that homocysteine level is elevated.
Homocysteine is a sulfur-containing amino acid. The high index may be caused by cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases such as H-type hypertension, coronary atherosclerotic heart disease, cerebral infarction, acute myocardial infarction, etc. However, homocysteine is easily affected by diet. If too much high cholesterol food is eaten before the test, it will lead to an increase in the raw materials for synthesizing cysteine, thus causing the index to rise.
Homocysteine 28.71μmol/L needs further blood pressure measurement, cardiac color Doppler ultrasound, CT cerebral angiography and other examinations to confirm the diagnosis.
