How much is homocysteine in men?

Healing hearts, one patient at a time.
Homocysteine is higher in men than 15μmol/L.
Homocysteine is less affected by gender and test method, and the normal range in clinical practice is 5-15μmol/L for both men and women. Homocysteine is usually used for screening cardiovascular diseases and cerebrovascular diseases. If the test results show homocysteine>15μmol/L, it indicates an increased risk of diseases, such as coronary atherosclerotic heart disease, myocardial infarction, cerebral infarction, etc. In addition, homocysteine>15μmol/L also indicates that vitamin B6, vitamin B12 and folic acid and other nutrients are deficient, which may be related to hypothyroidism, kidney disease and other factors, so male homocysteine more than 15μmol/L is considered high.
