Cardiac PDA refers to patent ductus arteriosus, which is a common congenital heart disease.

What does Heart PDA mean?

In fetal period, ductus arteriosus is a vascular conduit connecting pulmonary artery and aorta, which is used to deliver oxygen and nutrients to fetus. However, in some cases, ductus arteriosus fails to close naturally after birth, causing blood to flow from pulmonary artery to aorta through ductus arteriosus, thus forming cardiac PDA. Cardiac PDA may cause cardiac overload and hemodynamic instability, causing symptoms such as dyspnea, fatigue, and syncope.

Cardiac PDA has a relatively good prognosis after active and standardized treatment, and patients do not need to worry too much.
