Homocysteine is an intermediate product of methionine and cysteine metabolism. It belongs to an item of blood examination. It is commonly used in the auxiliary diagnosis of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases such as H-type hypertension, coronary atherosclerotic heart disease, myocardial pontine, cerebral thrombosis, cerebral infarction, etc. The normal range is 5-15μmol/L.

Homocysteine index is low and generally has no clinical significance. If the index is elevated, further blood pressure measurement, coronary angiography, brain CT, brain magnetic resonance and other examinations are needed to clarify the cause and carry out targeted treatment.
