Congenital heart disease inherited from father?

Congenital heart disease may be inherited from the father, but it is not necessarily passed on to the children.

Congenital heart disease is caused by abnormal development of the heart during fetal period. It may be related to inheritance, including autosomal dominant inheritance, autosomal recessive inheritance or X-linked inheritance. If the father has congenital heart disease, the risk of his children is usually higher than that of normal people, so the father's congenital heart disease may be inherited. However, it is not necessarily passed on to his children. The incidence rate is slightly higher than other groups. There is no need to worry too much.
