Causes of ischemic stroke

There are many causes of ischemic stroke, and it is helpful to judge prognosis, guide treatment and secondary prevention by classifying ischemic stroke patients. Clinically, more common is cerebral infarction caused by atherosclerosis, which is caused by arterial intima thickening, forming atherosclerotic plaques, and then plaque volume gradually increases, causing vascular stenosis or even occlusion, and then causing ischemic stroke. Therefore, everything that causes vascular intima thickening and plaque formation is its risk factors, such as hypertension, diabetes, dyslipidemia, smoking and drinking, obesity, old age, etc.
