Appendicitis refers to purulent inflammation caused by obstruction of appendix lumen due to various reasons, or secondary bacterial infection, which requires treatment in emergency department or general surgery. Appendicitis can be divided into acute appendicitis and chronic appendicitis according to the length of the course. Among them, chronic appendicitis is mostly formed by acute appendicitis. According to pathological changes, it can be divided into acute simple appendicitis, acute suppurative appendicitis, gangrenous appendicitis, perforated appendicitis and periappendiceal abscess. It is one of the most common acute abdomen diseases, which occurs in young adults aged 20 to 30, accounting for 40% of the total disease, most of which require surgical resection.
