When should I take the pill?

There are three main types of contraceptives: short-acting contraceptives, long-acting contraceptives and emergency contraceptives. Short-acting contraceptives are usually taken on the fifth day of your menstrual cycle and are taken continuously for 21 days. Emergency contraceptives are usually taken within 72 hours of the end of sex.
