How long can chronic gonorrhea be cured?

Gonorrhea is a sexually transmitted disease caused by gonorrhoeae infection. It mainly invades the genitourinary system. In the acute stage of infection, if active treatment is given, gonorrhoea can normally be cleared quickly. However, if treatment is not timely, it may become chronic gonorrhoea. In this case, gonorrhoeae may cause retrograde infection, urethritis, seminal vesiculitis, epididymitis, and pelvic inflammatory disease in women. In this case, treatment is more difficult. You may need to increase the dose and course of treatment, and sometimes even combine it with antibiotics. Normally, it may take two to three weeks to kill gonococci in the body. However, irreversible changes caused by chronic gonorrhea infection, such as urethral stricture, vas deferens, or blocked fallopian tubes, may be more difficult to fully recover.
