Generally, vaginal ultrasound examination will not cause adverse effects on the fetus. However, if there is abnormal vaginal bleeding, such as threatened abortion, vaginal ultrasound examination may cause abortion. For some placenta previa, vaginal ultrasound examination may cause massive bleeding, and even cause fetal hypoxia. Therefore, vaginal ultrasound can only be performed when there is no abnormal vaginal bleeding or other uncomfortable manifestations. For the presence of vaginal bleeding, vaginal ultrasound is generally not recommended to prevent the fetus from showing miscarriage or hypoxia.
