Premature rupture of membranes refers to rupture of membranes before the official onset of labor. Premature rupture of membranes is often related to reproductive tract infections, uneven stress on membranes, lack of nutrients, trauma and other factors. about 90% of patients with premature rupture of membranes suddenly feel more fluid flowing from the vagina, usually without abdominal pain and other signs of birth. When pushing up the fetal presentation through the vagina or anus, vaginal bleeding or fluid flow will increase. Sometimes the fluid will be mixed with fetal fat or meconium. Premature rupture of membranes can be diagnosed by vaginal speculum examination, which shows fluid flowing from the cervical orifice or pool formation in the posterior vaginal fornix. When there is small, intermittent vaginal discharge, we should further examine it and distinguish it from vaginitis and urinary incontinence. The incubation period of premature rupture of membranes refers to the time between rupture of membranes and the initiation of labor. The longer the incubation period, the higher the incidence of infection. When vaginal discharge shows signs of odor or fever, consider the possibility of chorioamnionitis.
