Generally speaking, the sign of labor is a contraction every five or six minutes. The contraction is accompanied by obvious pain. The contraction lasts for more than 10 seconds. The pain of the contraction is getting stronger and stronger. Physical examination shows that the cervical canal is progressively shortened and dilated. From labor to final delivery, it usually takes 11~12 hours for primipara and 6~8 hours for multipara. The period is divided into three labor stages. The first stage of labor is from labor to cervical opening, 10 cm, called cervical dilation, generally takes about 10 hours. The second stage of labor, from cervical opening to fetal delivery, called fetal delivery, generally takes 1~2 hours. After the placenta is delivered, called the third stage of labor, generally takes a few minutes to ten minutes.
