What causes ventricular septal defect?

Fetal ventricular septal defect may be caused by family inheritance, maternal changes in uterine environment, maternal lack of folic acid and other reasons.

1. Family inheritance

Most fetal ventricular septal defect is related to polygenic genetic defects, and a few are caused by chromosomal aberrations or single-gene genetic defects.

2. Maternal changes in uterine environment occur in

early pregnancy. Intrauterine virus infection, maternal exposure to excessive radiation during pregnancy, etc., can cause fetal ventricular septal defect.
