What is placental maturity?

Placenta is an accessory structure that connects mother and baby. It is the source of baby's life. It is attached to the uterus to obtain nutrients and oxygen, and then supplies the baby in the body. As the gestational age increases, the placenta will also show changes from new to old, called placental maturity. Placental maturity classification is used to measure placental maturity; Medically, four grades are normally used to judge the maturity level of placenta. Grade 0 indicates that the placenta is immature, Grade 1 indicates that the placenta is basically mature, Grade 2 indicates that the placenta is mature, and Grade 3 indicates that the placenta has aged.
