How to treat acute pericarditis in children

Children with acute pericarditis are usually treated by general treatment, drug treatment, surgery and other methods.

1. General treatment

Children should try to stay in bed, eat more nutritious liquid or semi-liquid food, when there are symptoms such as shortness of breath or dyspnea, you can take semi-recumbent oxygen.

2. Drug treatment

For children with chest pain, aspirin, colchicine, ibuprofen and other drugs are usually used; for children with poor absorption of effusion by other drugs, glucocorticoids such as dexamethasone, prednisolone, cortisone and so on.

3. Surgical treatment

Children with cardiac tamponade and large exudate can be treated by pericardiocentesis; patients with purulent acute pericarditis can be treated by pericardiotomy and drainage or pericardiocentesis.
