What are the symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux

Gastroesophageal reflux disease can be divided into esophageal symptoms and extra-esophageal symptoms. Esophageal symptoms such as reflux and heartburn are the most common typical symptoms of the disease, which occur one hour after eating, bending over or when intra-abdominal pressure increases, and can also show chest pain, swallowing difficulties, and foreign body sensation behind the sternum. Extra-esophageal symptoms can show pharyngitis, chronic cough, asthma, severe cases of aspiration pneumonia, and even pulmonary interstitial fibrosis.
