What does aortic regurgitation mean?

Healing with hope, guiding with care.
Aortic valve insufficiency is a condition in which the aortic valve does not close completely and there is still blood flow through it.
Aortic valve disease itself and aortic root disease may cause aortic insufficiency. Aortic insufficiency is a condition in which the aortic valve does not close completely during diastolic phase of the heart and blood returns to the left ventricle, which may increase the burden on the left ventricle, resulting in overload of left ventricular volume and enlargement of the left ventricle. Left ventricular systolic function may decrease and left ventricular insufficiency may occur. When the aortic valve is not fully closed, the pressure at the aortic root may decrease. At this time, the coronary artery is in diastolic phase, and myocardial blood perfusion is carried out; the aortic valve is not fully closed in diastolic phase, which may cause coronary artery perfusion to decrease, resulting in symptoms of myocardial ischemia, chest distress, chest pain, etc.
