What causes baby tears?

The most common reason for baby tears is because the embryonic residual film at the lower end of the nasolacrimal duct is not degraded, blocking the lower end of the nasolacrimal duct, and tears are retained in the lacrimal sac, thus causing tears. The rare cause is poor development of the bony nasolacrimal duct, stenosis, occlusion or absence of congenital lacrimal punctum. At the same time, it is necessary to rule out whether there is congenital eyelid inversion, inverted eyelashes stimulate the cornea, and congenital glaucoma caused by tears photophobia. Other causes may be edema of the nasal mucosa, nasal polyps causing obstruction of the nasolacrimal duct opening. Therefore, it shows continuous tears and needs detailed eye examination and timely treatment.
