Can a 6mm ventricular septal defect heal itself?

If there is perimembranous ventricular septal defect or muscular ventricular septal defect with diameter of 6 mm, it is possible to self-heal if the age is less than 5 years old. If there is double subarterial ventricular septal defect with patent ductus arteriosus, tetralogy of Fallot, atrial septal defect, etc., the age is more than 5 years old, it may not self-heal.

If ventricular septal defect 6mm cannot self-heal, ventricular septal defect occlusion can be performed to close the defect.
