Why subclinical hypothyroidism?

Dedicated to your well-being.
The occurrence of subclinical hypothyroidism may be related to autoimmune diseases, abnormal iodine intake, drug influence, aging, other factors, etc. 1. Autoimmune diseases Hashimoto thyroiditis and other autoimmune diseases can lead to the gradual destruction of thyroid tissue, thyroid hormone synthesis and secretion decreased, thus causing subclinical hypothyroidism. Autoimmune disorders can attack thyroid cells and affect their function.2. Abnormal iodine intake When iodine deficiency occurs, insufficient thyroid hormone synthesis raw materials may cause hypothyroidism; and iodine excess may sometimes cause thyroid dysfunction by inducing autoimmune reactions and other mechanisms, resulting in subclinical hypothyroidism. 3. Drug influence Some drugs such as lithium salt and amiodarone may interfere with the synthesis or release of thyroid hormones, and long-term use may increase the risk of subclinical hypothyroidism. 4. Age With age, thyroid tissue may deteriorate to a certain extent, and thyroid function may gradually decline, which is more common in the elderly. 5. Other factors, including genetic factors and environmental factors, may also play a role in the occurrence of subclinical hypothyroidism. People with a family history of thyroid disease may be more susceptible to subclinical hypothyroidism; adverse environmental factors such as radiation may also cause damage to the thyroid.
