When can gastroscope give a result

Guiding you towards a healthier tomorrow.
The results of gastroscopy are usually partial and can take several days to complete.
In general, after gastroscopy, the endoscopist will give a preliminary examination result on the spot. This is because the gastroscopy can directly observe the esophageal, gastric and duodenal mucosa, such as inflammation, ulcers, polyps, tumors, etc., and the doctor can immediately judge and describe them. This preliminary result is important for the diagnosis of some obvious lesions, allowing the patient and the doctor to quickly understand the situation.
However, if biopsy is performed during gastroscopy, i.e., small pieces of tissue are taken from suspected lesions for pathological analysis, the complete results need to wait for pathological reports. This is because pathological examinations require a series of complex processing and analysis processes. Pathologists fix, slice and stain tissue samples, and then carefully observe cell morphology and structure under a microscope to determine the nature of the lesion, such as whether it is malignant or the specific type of inflammation. This process usually takes several days, depending on the hospital workflow and workload.
