Can mumps get a second time?

Whether mumps recurs depends on the type of parotitis. If it is mumps, immunity is acquired for a long time after the first attack, and there is usually no second recurrence. If it is suppurative mumps or nonspecific mumps, there is a possibility of recurrence.
