Treatment of acute laryngitis in children

Acute laryngitis in children is mostly complicated with viral and bacterial infections. Systemic treatment with adequate broad-spectrum antibiotics should be used. Glucocorticoids can be given when symptoms are severe. Aerosol inhalation can improve cough and expectoration symptoms. Tracheotomy should be performed if drug treatment is not effective or causes severe laryngeal obstruction.
