Trachoma is an infectious eye disease caused by Chlamydia trachomatis. Acute symptoms include photophobia, tearing, foreign body sensation, and more mucus and mucopurulent secretions in the eyes. It may show redness of the eyelids, conjunctival congestion, follicular hyperplasia, and diffuse keratoepithelitis. In chronic stages of trachoma, there is no obvious discomfort, only itching, foreign body sensation, dryness, and burning sensation. Late can be complicated with entropion and trichiasis, symblepharon, corneal opacity, chronic dacryocystitis, etc., if the symptoms worsen, can seriously affect vision and even blindness. Trachoma treatment is mainly local medication. Point tetracycline or macrocyclic lipids antibiotic eye medicine, in the acute stage or severe trachoma in addition to local use of drugs, but also oral sulfonamide preparations, for trichiasis and entropion and other complications, can be corrected by surgery.
