Mixed tumor of the lacrimal gland, also known as pleomorphic adenoma. The tumor tissue is mainly composed of epithelial cells and stromal components. It occurs in middle-aged men. The patient is unilaterally affected. The disease is slow. The upper eyelid of the affected side is swollen. The mass is often palpable at the outer upper edge of the orbit. The texture is soft or hard. The tumor presses the eyeball, causing the eyeball to protrude forward and downward. The outer rotation is limited. It may be accompanied by refractive error. In most cases, pleomorphic adenoma originates from the orbital lobe of the lacrimal gland. CT scan can clearly show the size of the tumor and bone erosion of the lacrimal fossa, requiring surgical treatment. If the tumor can be completely removed, the chance of tumor recurrence and malignant transformation will be reduced.
