What is high pressure and low pressure in hypertension?

Building a healthier future, together.
The high pressure and low pressure in hypertension refer to systolic pressure and diastolic pressure respectively, and are two key values in blood pressure measurement.
In blood pressure measurement, high pressure (systolic pressure) represents the highest pressure generated by blood on the blood vessel wall when the heart contracts; and low pressure (Diastolic pressure) represents the lowest pressure generated by the elastic contraction of the blood vessel wall during diastole.
The systolic pressure range of normal adults is generally between 90-139mmHg, and the diastolic pressure range is generally between 60-89mmHg. When systolic or diastolic pressure continues to be higher than the normal range, hypertension can be diagnosed, which is an important risk factor for cardiovascular disease.
