The duodenum is an organ of the digestive tract between the stomach and jejunum. Anatomically, it can be divided into four parts: bulb, descending part, horizontal part and ascending part. It is named because it is equivalent to the length of 12 horizontal fingers. The duodenum is about 25 cm in length. The duodenum is the shortest, largest, deepest and most fixed part of the small intestine. Most of the duodenum is an extraperitoneal organ, fixed to the posterior abdominal wall by the peritoneum. It receives gastric juice, bile and pancreatic juice, so its digestive function is very important. The duodenum is C-shaped and surrounds the head of the pancreas.
