What does hypoechoic nodule mean?

Empathy in care, excellence in medicine.
A hypoechoic breast nodule is a medical imaging finding indicating a localized hypoechoic area of breast tissue.
A hypoechoic breast nodule is a mass or nodule found in the interior of the breast on ultrasound examination. This nodule may be cystic fluid change, granulation tissue or uncalcified tissue. At the same time, a hypoechoic breast nodule may be benign or malignant. Benign nodules are more common in breast hyperplasia, breast fibroma, etc., while malignant nodules may be breast cancer.
Although ultrasound examination can initially determine the shape, boundary, blood flow and calcification of the nodule, thus assessing its benign or malignant, in order to further confirm the diagnosis, needle biopsy or pathological examination is required.
