28 weeks pregnant amniotic fluid index normal range

Guiding you with care, every step of the way.
A normal amniotic fluid index at 28 weeks of gestation is between 8 and 25cm.
At 28 weeks of gestation, an amniotic fluid index between 8 and 25cm is considered normal. This is the result of a B-ultrasound examination that divides the abdomen into four quadrants centered on the umbilicus and detects the depth of the largest amniotic fluid pool in each quadrant. If the amniotic fluid index is less than 8cm, it is called oligohydramnios. This may indicate some degree of developmental abnormality or congenital infection in the fetus and requires further prenatal diagnosis. Conversely, if the amniotic fluid index exceeds 25cm, it is called polyhydramnios. This may be related to fetal abnormalities, digestive tract abnormalities in pregnant women, hydrocephalus, spina bifida, diabetes and other problems, which also require further examination.
