What is the difference between lochia and menstruation?

Lochia refers to a secretion that appears in women during puerperium, which is different from menstruation. The leucorrhea during lochia is very small and intermittent, lasting about four to six weeks. Menstruation is continuous bleeding, usually lasting about five to seven days.
