Pulp vitality test is an important method to evaluate the pulp condition.
It can be used to understand whether the pulp is healthy, inflamed or necrotic, and provide basis for accurate diagnosis. Different test methods can reflect the different aspects of pulp condition, such as cold stimulation, heat stimulation, etc., to observe the reaction of pulp to temperature changes, and electrical vitality test can evaluate pulp vitality from an electrophysiological point of view. Accurate diagnosis is essential for formulating appropriate treatment plan.
During and after root canal treatment, pulp vitality test can be repeated to determine whether treatment is incomplete or other problems exist in time, so that further measures can be taken. If pulp vitality is acceptable, conservative treatment with preservation of pulp may be preferred; if vitality is obviously abnormal or lost, more decisive treatment may be required.
