What causes diabetic foot

Diabetic foot is mainly caused by diabetic peripheral neuropathy and diabetic angiopathy.

1. Diabetic peripheral neuropathy

If the blood sugar of diabetic patients is high for a long time, it can lead to peripheral nerve disease. Motor neuropathy can cause foot deformity. When the sensory nerve is damaged, it will cause the foot to reduce the resistance to external pressure, foreign bodies, cold and heat, and it is easy to be injured to form ulcers. Autonomic neuropathy can lead to dry and cracked skin of the feet, easy to secondary infection, etc., and then form diabetic feet.

2. Diabetic angiopathy

Diabetic patients with continuous high blood sugar, leading to arteriosclerosis of the lower limbs, narrowing or obstruction of the blood lumen leading to reduced blood supply to the lower limbs, patients appear cold, pain, intermittent claudication symptoms. Severe blood supply deficiency of the lower limbs, it will lead to foot skin ulcers, limb gangrene, etc., forming diabetic feet.
