Diagnosis of lactose intolerance in neonates

Lactose intolerance can be diagnosed by performing a lactose tolerance test, as long as the maximum blood glucose is less than 1.1 mmol/l and the glucose level rises above 1.1 mmol/l. Lactose intolerance can also be diagnosed by performing a lactose hydrogen breath test, as long as the breath hydrogen value is ≥20ppm.
