The difference between polyps and tumors

Polyp refers to a kind of vegetation protruding from the mucosal surface, including hyperplastic polyps, inflammatory polyps, hamartoma, adenoma and other tumors. It is a benign lesion, but some polyps tend to become malignant. Tumor is a new organism formed by the loss of normal regulation of its growth at the gene level by a certain cell of the local tissue under the action of various factors. Tumors include benign tumors and malignant tumors. Many polyps can be understood as benign tumors. Therefore, the difference between tumors and polyps lies in the larger scope of tumors. In addition to polyps, many other benign tumors and malignant tumors such as cancer are also included.
