How is intercostal neuralgia caused?

There are many reasons that can cause intercostal neuralgia in patients. First, it may be degenerative protrusion of thoracic intervertebral disc, which leads to narrow deformation of nerve passage and causes symptoms of intercostal neuralgia. Secondly, it may be caused by tuberculosis of thoracic spine and spinal cord tumor. Lesions in ribs, mediastinum and other parts are also easy to cause pain.
