What is the difference between bunions and gout?

Bunions and gout are different in etiology, manifestation site, disease type, etc.

1. Etiology

Bunions are usually caused by dislocation of the first metatarsal head when hallux valgus is deformed; the etiology of gout is not clear, but generally related to uric acid excretion disorder, excessive uric acid production, purine metabolism disorder, etc.

2. Manifestations

Bunions are usually inflammatory reactions in the first metatarsal joint sac; gout may occur in one or more joints.

3. Disease type

Bunions are diseases caused by hallux valgus deformity; gout is a metabolic disease.
