Cancer patients may experience changes in blood counts, including red blood cell count and hemoglobin concentration, white blood cell count, platelet count, etc.
1. Red blood cell count and hemoglobin concentration
Cancer patients may experience anemia, manifested as decreased red blood cell count and hemoglobin concentration. Mainly due to bone marrow suppression, malnutrition, or bleeding caused by cancer, resulting in decreased red blood cell production or excessive destruction.
2. White blood cell count
Cancer patients may experience increased or decreased white blood cell count, depending on the type and progression of cancer.
