Does an infant's atrial septal defect heal?

If the atrial septal defect is less than 5 mm, the probability of self-healing is higher within one year of age, and regular reexamination is required after self-healing. If the atrial septal defect is less likely to self-heal after 2 years of age, surgery can be selected when the child has conditional surgery.
